love is in the air
at about 4:00 this morning we awoke to a horrific screeching noise coming from the woods across the street. at first it sounded like two animals fighting, but only one of them was making this aggressive racket. The other was making a different sound entirely — a repetitive whistling sound that resembled a high-pitched coo. It didn’t last very long, leading us to conclude that we had actually been privy to a midnight tête a tête between a pair of fishers, known in this neck of the woods as “fisher cats”. Oh, the lovely sounds of Spring!
