    dream sequence - part 19

a familiar dilemma — waking up on a train in an unfamiliar town.
the crumbling facade of the station spoke of better days,
and the spacious new stadium brought back dreams of baseball,
but I was suddenly pre-occupied by the prospect of getting back home.
moments later I woke up in the passenger seat of a taxi,
speeding through the back roads of an old mill town.
“where are you taking me?” I asked.

    dream sequence - part 18

I was hoping to be in and out, and that no one would even notice that I had left the house. Just when I had worked up the nerve to pass on some tempting snacks, the skies opened up. I thought I’d go outside to wait out the storm, but some smokers had gathered under the overhang, so instead I hovered in a small seating area, trying to look inconspicuous.

It was then that he spoke — not so much to me as to anyone within the sound of his voice: “That’s Colossus. Came from out of nowhere.”

He was staring at an ominous black cloud directly overhead. The building shook from the wind, and the rain fell relentlessly.

“She looks a lot like Lefty, but Lefty tends to develop slowly and stick around. Colossus does her damage and takes off. Before you know it, she’s gone.”

    moonless night —
    to have died
    so young...

    moonless night —
    I never know
    what to say

    moonless night —
    a child’s bicycle
    in the snow
