conversations with X
“Who are you?”
“I am x in an indeterminate equation.”
“I’m familiar with that reference from Dostoevsky. Are you saying that you’re the Devil then?”
“I don’t believe in the Devil.”
“You don’t? Who do you think motivates you to do the things you do?”
“Who says I need motivation?”
“Someone or something must inspire you.”
“Nothing inspires me.”
“Really. Somehow you consider yourself original and unique.”
“I am not God’s special snowflake.”
“No, but you are exasperating. Can’t you see that I’m trying to help you?”
“By asking stupid questions?”
“Were you acting alone, or did someone put you up to this?”
“We are all acting alone.”
“Existentialist double-talk!”
“The Equation sanctions double-talk in that all conclusions are valid.”
“The Equation is just a literary device, a figure of speech.”
“As you wish.”

you cancelled each other out...left with zero. How true of all the variables that are named "x's". How true.
Sounds like a conversation I'd have with my therapist.
But I stopped that. It was a waste of time and money. Now I just pick on people shorter than me.
Decided-ly provoking. A WHIRLING good time!
i am
what
i am
nothing
X sounds as lovely to talk to as me'. perhaps it is time to get them together...
g.d. - as the philosopher Elvis Costello once said, "everything is less than zero."
colonialave - therapy is no substitute for ridiculing those less fortunate than oneself.
ma - thank you for the compliment. there's nothing quite as exhilarating as taking one's mind out for a spin.
cy - X can always be found pontificating to the sawdust under a barstool near you.
