some leaves stay on the branches until spring again then dry out with the sunshine.
the snow is coming here too. and i feel old too.
but it feels so good when you can feel the air bite you when the snow chills everything to a crisp. it makes your head hurt and your body shake.
put on your mittens - it seems to make me feel like a child when i grasp for things.
LeeLoreya - our dogwood tree had not yet shed its leaves, therefore the snow weighed especially heavy on its frail branches.
Cy - I agree that the first snow has magical qualities, and that every haiku poet tries to capture that magic in words. By January, however, I become homicidal at the sight of three-foot snowdrifts and ice dams on our roof. It produces a dramatically different tone in my poetry.
