    twitterpated

I’ve recently caught the twitter bug. I suspect I was particularly vulnerable because my affinity for haiku matched perfectly with the website’s 140-character message limit. And just to prove it’s in vogue, NPR ran this story on All Things Considered a few days ago.

Admittedly, what I’ve been posting there isn’t exactly haiku, but rather random, spontaneous thought droppings...
Allston freight yard if that old caboose could talk
train running late the billboard scowls at me
hanging curveball I didn’t buy enough beer
between innings the dog chases its tail
the game out of hand wondering where I went wrong
ah, the crunch of my bones as the train runs me over
waiting for the train pigeons fight over a cigarette butt
afternoon meeting a beautiful day outside
wish I had my sunglasses the CIO’s glittering generalities

Perhaps some of these snippets will grow up to be haiku some day...

    a tale of two blogs

most of the people who visit this blog know that I also maintain another blog at haikupoet.blogspot.com. it was intended to be my haiku journal, as it were, while this blog was set aside for free-form, non-haiku ramblings, random thought droppings, etc. that’s not what happened, of course. instead, this blog is a superset of “my haiku blog”, featuring everything that shows up there — plus the occasional foray into ill-advised prose. Loth to needless duplication, I’m wondering if I should 1) shut down my haiku blog and keep everything in one place (this blog), 2) keep haiku and non-haiku in separate blogs, or 3) maintain the status quo. Please feel free to post your replies in comment form or to email me privately.

    Thanks!
